October Snow Predicated

Snow in October!  According to Accuweather, the  forecast for Wilmington, De is 1-3 inches of snow.  Can't be possible.  But after doing a little research, I discovered we've had October snow before.
In 1979, 2.5 inches of snow fell in the Wilmington area on Oct. 10. There have been three other times the area has had snow in October : Halloween 1925, when 3 inches fell; Oct. 20, 1940, when 2 inches accumulated; and Oct. 26, 1962, when there was a dusting.
The weather ruins our Saturday evening plans.  Who wants to go on a Halloween Hayride in the snow?  Not me that's for sure.

  1. I feel for you - hate the stuff myself. Hopefully it won't be bad and will melt quick enough not to ruin the whole weekend. Stay warm and dry, my friend :)

  2. There's just something that's not right about Halloween and snow. A Christmas caroling hayride in snow is a different animal altogether, and we deal with it as part of the moment. Plus, wrapping up a Halloween costume on a little kid is the pits. Been there, done that. Yes, I think your snow is definitely "out of place" this year! Nice post EFB!
