2011 Halloween T Shirt

August usually reminds people of School starting. But not me.  I marked Halloween T Shirt on my August calendar. And this year I promised myself I would not wait 'til the week before to start thinking about my Halloween T Shirt!  Since I refused to wear any type of Halloween costume (even when my adult kids tried the ole wear a costume for the grand kids routine), I always try to come up with a shirt idea that will make them laugh out loud.

A new addition to the Yes, I Can Drive a Stick line is our Halloween trick or treat tote bag.  The bag is 100% cotton canvas and measures approximately 14"W x 15"H x 1"D.

Needless to say, I've been hard at work the last few days searching and searching our embroidery files for the 2011 t shirt.  I had an idea of what I wanted. But, none of the Halloween designs we had was just right.  I choose an unique witch design and added my own idea.  Here is the embroidered Halloween t shirt.

Halloween Cupcakes

Now that I have my Halloween t shirt embroidered and ready to wear.  It's time to choose a Halloween treat to make for our grandkids' Halloween celebration.  Since we are in the process of moving this year, I need a treat that is easy to make.  I know I could just purchase a ready made treat, but that is not my style.  Nonna's don't buy baked items.
Halloween cupcakes are the easiest treat to make and decorate.  My plan is to use a store box cake mix, bake the cupcakes, decorate them and freeze them about a week before Halloween.

Yummy Mummy Cupcakes
The only thing you need to take off this dessert to enjoy is the wrapper.
To make them, follow these steps:
  • Start with frosted store-bought or homemade cupcakes.
  • Use a pastry bag with basket-weave tip to pipe on white frosting.
  • Pipe red frosting on for the mummy's eyes.
  • Make two dots with black frosting to make the pupils
  • Note:  Use ready made frosting.
  • Red and black food coloring  to make black and red frosting or purchase ready made cake decorating frostings.

Halloween is NOT my favorite holiday

It is hard to admit that Halloween is NOT my favorite holiday.  Even as a kid, I didn't like dressing up.  And I like it even less as an adult.  That being said.  I decorate our home for Halloween, join in lots of  Halloween activities and even make special spooky treats for our grand kids. But, I refuse to dress up. What I have done for years, is choose a really cool Halloween themed t shirt to wear in lieu of a costume.
Since we own and operate our own custom embroidery store and recently added a Halloween shop, I thought this year's Halloween t shirt will be a piece of cake.  Wrong!  I searched and searched our embroidery files and found the same ole, same ole sayings and images.  I didn't want a ghost, a pumpkin, a skeleton, or a monster.  I wanted something different.  I had just about given up on the idea for a new Halloween t shirt and decided to recycle one from my collection.  And then I found it.  It was perfect.  My 2010 Halloween t shirt is Yes, I can drive a stick.  It is adorable with a black cat riding a broom stick.   I drive a stick and have done so for many years.  I still get comments as WOW you can drive a stick?  I answer with a smile Yes, I can drive a stick.  And now I have a t shirt to prove it.
