Sunday Afternoon Drive

One of the outings my best friend's family took was a Sunday afternoon drive to the country to look at the cows.  Can you imagine?  I always got roped into going because I was her BFF. lol  We would pile into the family station wagon and across the Delaware Memorial Bride we would go to New Jersey.  If my friend and I were lucky, we could slouch down low enough so we couldn't be seen. However, it wasn't long before her dad commented sit up girls and look at the beautiful Jersey cows.  Since I am a city girl, I remember thinking I would never live here. Years later I did end up living in New Jersey. My BFF loved to tease me about just driving down the road to look at the cows.

If you are a Jersey girl and proud of it.  We have just the T shirt for you. A custom embroidered I'm a Jersey girl shirt.  The shirt is embroidered on our premises and ships from our store in Hainesport, NJ.
We have other Jersey themed products as well. Stop by our eCrater store to take a look.

Vintage Grease Jar

Recently a friend remarked that I am old soul. Believe me the comment really caught me off guard, I didn't get it. Gee, I thought I was pretty up to date. What she was referring to, though, was my love for vintage things. Especially my fondness for vintage kitchen gadgets and pottery. Many times I wish I could travel back in time and experience how a certain item was used.  For instance, I discovered this vintage 1930's white kitchenware grease jar listed by Sirocco's Curios. I can picture the jar sitting on the stove. But, I wonder if it really was used to save grease.  It had to be hard to clean because as far as I know dishwashers were not part of the 1930's kitchen.  (history of dishwashers)
Today, the jar is an unique kitchen collectible.

On the Road Again Travel Bag

The top to do on my bucket list is for hubby and I to travel more.  Last August we and our best friends flew to Punta Canta for a seven day stay.  Even though we were bumped from our return flight and had to stay an extra night, it was an awesome vacation.  The perks we received from the airlines made it so much easier to swallow the delay.  They put us up in an all expense paid 5 star resort and gave us vouchers for a future flight.

We are already in the process of planning our next trip.  This time, though, we are going to stay in the States and visit Key West.  So far, we plan to fly into Miami or For Lauderdale, rent a car and drive to the Keys.

One thing  we both realized we needed was a compact; but roomy carry bag. So, hubby is embroidering one of our on the road again messenger bags for both my friend Kathy and me.  It is the perfect bag for traveling.  It has lots of space to organize our travel documents , to store our water bottles, our cell phones, cameras and anything else we need.

Saturday Night at the Movies

The theme for this week's ESN scavenger hunt is movies. I remember the first time I went to the movies. My dad took me downtown to see Disney's Cinderella. I still have my souvenir glass slipper somewhere.

My choice for the movie theme was very difficult. There are so many good movies available on VHS today. I choose two of my favorites from Bargain Express - Toy Story and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. In my opinion, both are timeless movies and appeal to kids of all ages.

Toy Story is the tale of the 2 top toys in the toy box - Woody and Buzz Lightyear.  Their rivalry lands them in a tough situation and how they work together to become best friends.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is the saga of the lovely princess and her evil queen stepmother.  Snow-White flees into the forest where she is befriended by the seven dwarfs.  Despite their loyalty, the queen manages to cast her evil spell.  The spell can only be broken by love's first kiss.
Both movies are in the VhS format and are pre-owned.  The videos are in good working order and are guaranteed.

Bargain Express has several pre-owned VHS video from which to choose.  You are sure to find one for your next Saturday night at he movies.

A gift for my Friend

It's time to finish my selection fort his week's scavenger hunt Friends theme.  I decided to hunt for the perfect gift for one of my favorite friends.  I stopped by Le Petit Marche's eCrater store to see what she had listed.  I was looking at some of  her products and I spotted a gorgeous Italian glass wine decanter. It is a beauty. The decanter has a removable glass tube for holding ice. It is preowned but in good condition.
The Italian Wine Decanter from Metastil would make a lovely gift for friends or family.

Funny Valentine T Shirts

We are looking for hearts on the ESN scavenger hunt blog this week.  Of course with Valentine's Day only a few weeks away, many of us will be searching for a cute Valentine t shirt.
I remember when I taught preschool.  The kids loved funny Valentine t shirts.  I always tried to find one that would make them laugh.  Back then, I had a difficult time finding the perfect shirt and eventually had to design the logo myself and special order it.
Times have changed and today you can choose a custom embroidered Valentine t shirt from the many we have listed in our eCrater Store.
By the way, if you are wondering if I have listed the t shirt I created back in the day.  The answer is well sort of!  I've changed it some; but, the saying is the same :My Kids's Love Me.  Interesting enough, years later I  have been fortunate to find out that many of my kids really did love me.  lol  You could have fooled me.

The My Kids Love Me t shirt is great for teachers and moms.  To see it and all our custom embroidered Valentine shirts, stop by our store.

I'm A Jersey Girl

This morning as I was listing a new Jersey Girl t shirt on eCrater, I thought about the first time I wore my Jersey Girl t shirt.
A few years ago when I relocated to New Jersey from Delaware my Jersey girlfriends, better known as the Hens and Chickens , presented  me with a Jersey Girl t shirt as a gift.  One day I wore the shirt when shopping at a local store   This lady comes up to me and started berating me for wearing the shirt and told me she thought it was quite tacky. The shirt was not tacky at all. It just said Jersey Girl embellished with some sea shells.  By the way, this was before we opened Embroidery Fashions Boutique.
I stood there speechless.  And believe me that is something I normally would not do.  When she was finished, I politely told her the shirt was a gift from my dearest friends.  Since I was new to the area, I hoped all New Jersey residents were not as rude as she was.
Talk about the tables turning.  She stood there and did not know what to say; and finally walked away.
Later on, the manger of the store approached me.  She apologized for the rude customer and asked me not to  judge all of them by THAT woman. She really made me laugh.  I ended up making a new friend.
Even though I am now back in Delaware, we still talk on the phone, and facebook each other.  We make time to visit when I am in Jersey.
I am proud to say I have many Jersey Girls as friends and I will remain a Jersey girl at heart.

There are Arrows and There Are Arrows

The ESN scavenger hunt theme for this week is is arrows. Arrows as in bow and arrow or as in a pointing device.
Perhaps the most recognized arrow picture is a heart with Cupid's arrow. You remember him. The little guy with a bow and arrow. According to mythology, he uses the arrow to strike people's hearts to help them fall in love. I don't think grandmoms need to be hit by cupid's arrow to fall in love with a grandchild. It is love at first sight.

With that thought in mind, we designed the Grandmom's Valentine infant bib. The bib is 100% cotton with a spill proof backing. And of course two red hearts with cupid's arrow is embroidered on the center of the bib. The bib is custom embroidered on our premises.

Everybody loves a clown or do they?

How does the saying go?  Everybody loves a clown.  Everybody but me that is.  I  didn't like clowns as a child and as adult I like them even less.  I remember going to the circus with my dad when I was a kid.  My sister and dad loved the clown acts and would chuckle and laugh out loud.  Not me.  I view clowns as a form of entertainment. Some people like comedy and some do not.

As I was checking out embroidered t shirts to decide which shirt I could feature, the Father of the Bride camo t shirt caught my eye.  It is not a clown shirt or a shirt with a logo that would make most people laugh out loud.  But, the sportsman who frequent our  brick and mortar store always chuckle when they see the shirt.  In fact more than one local customer purchased the shirt as a gag gift.

If you would like to view more of our custom embroidered Father of the Bride shirts, visit our eCrater store. Take a moment and visit ESN to see all the clown theme items our members are showcasing.

Wind

This week's ESN scavenger hunt theme is wind.
Here on the east coast, we are still feeling the effects of hurricane Sandy. I am feeling very blessed because we fared the storm with very little damage and no power outages.  The winds here were pretty bad.  It seemed they were constant for at least 3 or 4 days and nights.  At one point the wind sounded like a freight train passing in the night.  My lawn is carpeted with brilliantly colored leaves.

Here at Embroidery Fashions Boutique we have many custom embroidered fall themed items. The Give Thanks apron is just right.  The 24 inch,  two pocket apron is embroidered with beautiful fall leaves and the saying is simple; but meaningful, Give Thanks.  That is exactly how I feel.  Thankful that neither I or my family and friends did not experience enormous damage from the storm.  We are blessed.

The Twinkle in Santa's Eye

This week's theme for the ESN scavenger hunt is twinkle.
Twinkle reminds me of the classic children's song Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, twinkling Christmas lights and the twinkle in Santa's eyes.
The Santa Can you Define Good custom embroidered t shirt is sure to make Santa's eyes twinkle.

It is a super cute Christmas shirt to wear to pre school or to grandma's house. The shirt is 100% cotton and machine washable.
The long sleeve shirt is available in 2 T, 3 T, 4 T, and 5-6 T.
Our shirts are embroidered on our premises and ship from Hainesport, NJ.

To see all of our embroidered Christmas shirts visit us our eCrater Store.

By the way, if you need twinkling Christmas lights, visit my sister seller, Katzzs Kloset, she has a vintage musical set listed.

Halloween Pick up Lines

The theme for this week's ESN scavenger hunt is lines. According to the online free dictionary, lines can refer to a geometric figure, a continuous mark, your occupation, a rope, your lineage, or a pick up line to name a few. But, the one definition which made me laugh was the pick up line. A pick up line is insincere talk used to impress or get someone's attention. There are so many different types of pick up lines available on the web. There are funny, romantic, cheesy, geeky, sexy or just plain weird pick up lines. There are even lists of pick up lines categorized by holidays. Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, and even Halloween is included. on the list. I couldn't resist. I looked up one of the sayings on our Halloween t shirts - Drink Up My Pretty. When we decided to embroider the shirt, it never entered our minds that it was a Halloween pick up line. However, last year, a customer ordered the shirt and remarked he was going to have some fun wearing it because it is a good pick up line.

So, if you need a really cool Halloween shirt be sure to check out our custom embroidered Drink Up My Pretty shirt. The Drink Up My Pretty logo is embroidered on t shirts  and hoodies.

By the way, I never did find the saying on any pick up line list.

A Birthday Surpise

A custom embroidered t shirt can add to the excitement of a kid's birthday celebration.   However, for this particular birthday, the shirt was for his mom not the birthday boy.  Ben really, really wanted a hamster for his 9th birthday.  Even though he promised he would care for the pet, his mom was not keen on the idea.  Of course his Aunt Angie came to his rescue.  She decided to give him a hamster (with all the needed paraphernalia).  The stage was set. Ben with all his cousins trooped out to Aunt Angie's car for his birthday surprise.  It was obvious that Ben loved his birthday gift.  And Aunt Angie was the best Aunt ever.
His mom was a good sport and couldn't stop smiling when she opened her custom embroidered "I love hamsters T shirt".

Ben and all the kids spent the rest of the afternoon just watching Hammi in his new home.
No doubt this birthday celebration will be remembered as one of Ben's best birthdays yet!

National Caramel Candy Apple Day

This week in our ESN scavenger hunt blog we are searching for products with a fruit theme.

Since it is September, apples came to mind.  Not just plain ole apples, but caramel candy apples.  Did you know that there is a national caramel candy apple day? It is celebrated in the United states on October 31st.  There are numerous recipes for caramel apples.  Everything from chocolate, to peanuts to gummy worms can be added to the caramel.  At our house, we like the the basic old time recipe, crisp apples, and caramel.
In honor of Caramel candy Apple Day we have the sweetest candy caramel sweatshirt.  The sweatshirt is custom embroidered on our premises.

Weddings - Scrapbook Workshop Book

Since I am still catching up on the ESN scavenger's hunt blog. I choose a how to Scrapbook book from Eccentric Thrifter.

Almost every bride has keepsakes and mementos from her wedding day.  Instead of sticking them in a shoe box as some of us did (not mentioning any names here), why not create a scrapbook or memory book.  I have seen some absolutely beautiful wedding memory albums
However, if you are like most beginners, you have no idea where to even start.  Take a look at the Scrapbook Workshop Guide to Preserving Memories listed by Eccentric Thrifter.

The Scrapbook workshop book is an easy to follow step by step guide to preserving memories.
